(It’s been a year since the first draft of this post. Thus any and all timey-wimey facts are just short of a year of.)
The Silver Snipers is Swedens latest up and coming CS GO team, consisting of BirDie, Windy, Knitting Knight, Teen Slayer and Berra-Bang1. All of them are just a wee bit older than the average gamer. Knitting Knight being the youngest at a mere 63. They played a couple of matches at DreamHack winter 2017 (one of the largest e-sport events of the year). Under special circumstances of course, but still that’s pretty cool.
We all know that the gaming crowd can be a pretty harsh (which is putting it mildly), especially if you’re a lone pubby, but the Silver Snipers were really well received by the DH crowd! Who knows, before long we might have senior-only tournaments in all kinds of games. Wouldn’t that be utterly amazing?! Showing the world that gaming is for everyone regardless of age and gender.
There are all kinds of hobby related generations gaps out there, gaming being one of them. You either grew up playing digital games, discovered gaming when you were older or didn’t come in contact with it at all. And everyone in between, at least that’s how I look at it. Those who, for one reason or another, never played computer games are obviously from my point of view really missing out… Imagine what a strange world it must seem, seeing “everyone” enjoying themeselves doing something you don’t appreciate or maybe even can’t understand. Then again I guess that pretty much goes for all hobbies, doesn’t it?
Anywho, this all makes me a very happy nerd. I do love positive news about the world of games, so excuse me while I shed a single tear and celebrate with tea and biscuits.
